"An unauthorized change was made to windows"

I've recently had some problems with the MMC and I've used the System File Checker to repair my System 32 folder. It was successfully done and I rebooted my notebook so that the changes are confirmed. However, my Vista Business hangs on the start up and shows the following message:

I've tried following the link provided, but to no avail: I don't get any link to validate my OS (which is original). In order to stop getting these errors I've had to use the System Restore option.

Why do I get that message when I repair my System 32 fodler? Is there any way so that I don't get it once I reboot my notebook?

Yep, but he also mentions some link. I'd like to see that link.

Sorry for late reply... Well, I ran into the same error message (An unauthorised change...) at startup after I had scanned my PC for any viruses in Safe Mode.

The link I'm asked to follow is: Genuine Microsoft Software

I expected a direct way to validate my Windows. However, I go to the page where all the products are listed and don't know what to do to validate my OS.

Have you installed Service Pack 2 and all critical updates? Go to Windows Update and see if you are missing anything.

Automated OS validation...
Genuine Microsoft Software

If the automated process is not possible or your license has already been activated or the validation requirement tripped because you changed out hardware, then they provide a phone number. Never say you moved the OS to another computer. Say something like your motherboard failed and it needed to be replaced which seems to have tripped the validation "feature".
