Hi there i wanna format my hdd to reinstall windows 7 but all i have is the windows upgrade can i still reinstall it or do i need the full windows 7 dvd to do it if you can help thanks

I'm pretty sure you can't do a full install with an upgrade CD. Maybe try a repair?

A quick google search came up with a few possibilities for getting that to work, however I don't know how good they are. Some say it worked like a charm.

Yes you can do a clean install with the Win7 upgrade DVD ( That's how you use it with XP.)
All you need is an activated copy of Win7 in place, which you have (right?).

It's fine to post it, it's not really illegal and it's well documented. If Microsoft really cared they would find a way to block it.
