0x800f0a12 error when trying to install win 7 sp1
Unfortunately I have not had the success of Hal installing win 7 sp1 on my computers. I installed it on my 64 bit laptop without any problems. I then went to install it on my desktop running win 7 home premium 32 bit and have not been able to. I built the desktop several years ago. It has an Intel D915GEV motherboard with an Intel 3.0 Ghz processor. It has 4 GB RAM with a Western Digital 640 GB black hard drive. I did a clean install when I installed win 7 on it. I have not had any problems with win 7 or updates since the installation. I am the only user on this computer and I don't have it set up for additional users. I keep getting the error 0x800f0a12.
I have tried running the windows update troubleshooter found in the control panel. I have temporarily disconnected my 2nd hard drive that I use for storing data. I downloaded and installed the tool from the link in glc's post #36 in the thread on win 7 sp1 and retried installing sp1 and it failed again. http://www.pcmech.com/forum/windows-...k-1-sp1-2.html I have downloaded sp1 from the download center on Microsoft's website to my hard drive and I have tried installing it from there as well with no success. Thanks. |

Nuke said in the other thread to make sure you have the latest version of IE on your machine or it won't install... dunno.. but it's a thought.

I do have the latest version of IE.
I have been reading and trying different things from microsoft's website and I finally got it to install. In command prompt I typed "mountvol /E" then rebooted and that allowed me to install sp1. |
