can't find your Linux OS.

Do you have this setup as a dual boot machine and deleted the Linux partition?

re-install linux or if dual boot and do not want linux anymore and have windows still loaded, do a repair installation of windows to fix your master boot record.

Yes I have it set to dual boot with Windows 7 and Mandriva. The weird thing is that it happened when a program, nothing to do with Linux, wasn't responding and it restarted my computer automatically.

So all I need to do is have a bootable Windows 7 disk, do a repair installation? Also, will this keep my data safe on my drive?

It should be o.k. but you would be advised to back the data up first. You would need a usb/sata adapter and hotplug it to another machine to back up the data.

IDE/SATA to USB 2.0 Cable Adapter - Turn Your 2.5", 3.5" or 5.25" IDE or SATA Drive Into A USB Drive! 2020

you need to do the repair on windows 7 then re-install mandriva (more than likely). I have seen grub do that before, if you have the option use lilio boot loader, you may want to give that a try instead. If it is not an option, if Mandriva uses Yast, the bootloader can be change to Lilo.

You may want to image the drive in case it happens again which can save you a lot of time.

I don't actually want mandriva and I was eventually going to remove that partition anyway. I have never done a system repair or backed up a computer so this should be a good learning experience. Is it simple to do?

Also, I don't have a repair disk or the original Windows disk that I used to install on my laptop. Can I use any ISO image as long as it's the same windows 7, edition and burn it to a DVD? I get free software through my school so I already have an image.

Yes, it is easy.

make sure it is the version of Windows 7 that is installed on the machine.
Here are a couple of links for reference and future use

Once your boot record is fixed, you can go into the disk management snapin in Windows and delete the linux partition and resize.
