Fresh install, cannot see old partition
Hi all,
I just installed Windows 7 on an SSD drive. I wanted to use my old WD drive as a secondary for storage. The WD drive was set up with a partition for the OS, and another for my music/documents/games. However, I plugged the WD in after installing Win7, and only the old OS partition is accessible. It says access denied for the other (more important!) partition. Could this be a drive letter conflict? I originally had it named C: If so, how do I access my files on this partition? |

On your WD drive, is the partition that you can't access formatted? And if so, could it have been formatted in fat32? Pretty sure 7 can't read it.
I'm not sure, but I don't think the drive letter is an issue. You can name the drive anything you want.

I'm pretty sure it was NTFS since I frequently downloaded 10Gb+ files. I'll try booting to the old OS and maybe put all m important files on an external.

Well, looks like the SSD failed. Lasted all of 6 hours according to the S.M.A.R.T. Back to booting from the good ol' HDD...
