Most Recent Windows Update...

after i did the most recent update none of my usb storage devices work....i have 2 desktop hardrives and a portable and none of them work after the update...i plugged them in another computer and they all still work...so i did a system restore to a few days before the update and they worked again but windows keep updating itself so it makes them not work if that makes any sense at all..lol...has anyone else had a problem like this or know which update is causing the problem where i can ignore that specific one...thanks for any help at all...getting tired of restoring my computer just to be able to get to hardrives...thanks again...

Hey there,

Which version of windows are you using? You can check by right-clicking on Computer/My Computer and going to properties. Under Windows edition post that here.

To make it so where it downloads updates but won't install them until you tell it to. Go to Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Update > Change Settings. This is for Windows 7 but is alike for most of the OS's.

im running Windows 7 64 Bit...have u ever heard of something like this problem...

Are you sure they aren't working? One of the recent updates disabled the AutoRun feature so you may not get the screen that pops up when you plug in the usb device. However, if you check in Computer, you should see the device listed there.

nope they arent even listed in the My Computer...but if i do a restore to a couple days before they show up so only not work after the update...i tested them on other computers and they all work fine not even my flash drives or ipod will sync up...

Update

well i installed one update at a time and restarted in between i thought i found the one cause i didnt do the one that was optional and it worked great for 3 days and when i started it this morning the problem came back wont connect to any device at all...i tried going back to the system restore but all those got erased somehow and i cant go back...so now its stuck like this...do you think a complete format might help or not?...im at the point willing to try anything at all...and also do yall know any good site i can store my files on and retrieve them on my laptop since i have no way of backing anything up i dont want to lose my stuff...thanks for all yalls help...
