i have IE 9.0.8112.16421 the 64bit is on a short cut. i have 2 internet explorers listed on start/all programs. ie and ie 64
i REALLY do not like this.. lots of problems, lots of disconnects, lots and lot of.. lost connections. the page format keeps changing on it's own. different color, no bars on top, then the bottom, or no access to start button, program tab, etc.. what is the best way to set this up,..?? what IE do i use.? i do not see IE in the add/remove list to change it if i could thanks.. i have checked around, but there doesnt seem to be a consensus about what to do. i like windows, i never got to like FireFox, sorry also i cant get spell-check to work here.. and other place also, says.. 'exception raised, automation server cant create object"

Hi
I haven't used Explorer for a long time, I have it installed but I use Google Chrome, as do pretty much everyone I know. You might want to give it a try, it doesn't cost anything and once you get used to it, it's very fast and simple to use. Mike http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en...ome.html?hl=en |

Chrome is Google. You might want to reconsider installing it. I don't wanna start another diatribe here, but it's well-known that Google snoops left and right. Free comes at a cost.
Just use the IE that doesn't say 64-bit if you can't get Flash going.

I am just getting used to Google Chrome after being a Firefox fan for a long time. Firefox seems to getting to be bloatware. I am getting to like Chrome better. I would never bother with IE, for one thing it is the primary target of malware writers because if its popularity.
Opera and Safari are other browser alternatives.

The OP wants to get IE working, let's confine our comments to that.

Please. Truly people, there's nothing more frustrating and unhelpful than suggesting an alternate product as a solution. That does not fix the problem. Please check your "run away from the problem" postmodern mentality at the door when you come here to try to help people with computer problems.
Now, as for IE. I noticed upon re-reading the post that you're running IE 9, passn_thru2. OK, Microsoft redesigned (again) the interface of their flagship browser. Fire up IE and right click on an emtpy area of the title bar. In the contextual menu that comes up check the following: Menu bar, Status bar, Show tabs on a separate row. This will make the new interface resemble more IE8's. Now, a lot of pages on the Internet use what M$ calls "old formatting" and you have to click on IE's compatibility button every time in order for them to display correctly. This button was repositioned right at the end of the URL field. The frustrating thing is that this button doesn't always appear; apparently it only does when one of those pages IE deems old format is loaded. Do what I suggested and if you're still having problems we'll go through the Advanced Options. Also: have you already tried what strollin suggested? Adobe has now a 64-bit version of Flash. Flash pages now load fine in my machine which runs IE9 64-bit. Last edited by Nuclear Krusader; 04-30-2011 at 03:23 PM. Reason: Addenda. |
