Freezing and "not Resonding" after failed Windows update

I have a fairly fresh install of Windows 7 Pro [64bit] on m my laptop. Yesterday I was prompted for a Windows update. Sop I let it start to download the needed updates as I continued on. I noticed it was very slow, and my internet speeds and programs loading.

Eventually it error-ed out saying that it wasn't able to install some updates. I never took note of what it eventually was since I didn't think it would be an issue. Ever since then Windows has been very unstable. I will get constant freezing, programs not responding.

The part that is baffling me is when I try to even open Windows update it won't (I did get it to open once but it never populated the screen as if it didn't open properly)

SO I don't know if my issues are related to the failed update.

Will an event viewer log help. I do see a fair amount of errors, but I am not at the level where I understand how to interpret them. Also, every time I reboot you can see that it is trying to do a ChkDsk but closes and proceeds to reboot. So I tried to get it to run one myself and it gets a bit further, but gives all kinds of Can't do this and can't do that errors (see pics)

Also if an even viewer log will help let me know. I tried saving it to a text file but it doesn't seem to match all the errors I see in the viewer

We need your system specs. If the machine has been unstable overall even before this botched update, it might be possible that your problem is hardware.

You need to run diagnostics on your hard drive, those are symptoms of a failing hard drive.

I am not sure if the specs I will provide will make a difference, but here goes:
Dell M5010 [Laptop] Win 7 Pro 64 bit, 3GB RAM, AMD 2.10GHz 320gb hdd. I WAS getting some weird issues after I tried installing a game. So I uninstalled it and they still persisted.

At that point I was already planning on a upgrade from Home Prem. to Pro so that I did last weekend and it has been running flawless ever since.

But now I have a new issue as of like 20 minutes ago: it shows my wireless is not connected. I have tried everything I know including uninstalling it and reinstalling. It's acting as if it's disabled.

Here's the kicker, when I bought this laptop I was unsatisfied with the stock wireless card. I called Dell support and after much grief they sent a tech to my house to upgrade me to a faster card.

Could a failing card be giving me any of my problems. Why this all of a sudden? This laptop is less then a year old.

Immediately on startup, press F12 and run full system diagnostics. If there are any failures, contact Dell for warranty service.

Sure enough, it was a failing HDD. Dell is sending me a replacement.

Thanks to everyone for all the help.
