Sound and then none

Weird. I got Windows 7 installed and for the past several hours I've been trying to acquaint myself with it. Everything was working fine but now I've lost my sound. I played a song in my DAW and it sounded fine and the sound was coming over both speakers. Then the next song I tried I lost the right speaker so the sound was coming only out of the left. Finally I lost that one too.

I look in Device Manager and the only thing that shows up is the PCI Simple Communications Controller thing which will show up if you don't have the Intel Management Engine Interface Driver installed. I'd install it but I can't find one for my DP35DP.

And I'm not sure that even relates to the problem. It's just weird for the sound to be fine one minute and gone the next.

I am using a beta driver for my soundcard. But EMU says it's fine to install.

Windows 7 is not officially supported on that motherboard, but have you tried installing the Vista drivers?

What exact soundcard, please?

My sound card is the EMU 1212m of which right now there is only a beta driver available. The Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor never told me my motherboard was not officially supported.

If you go to intel.com and bring up the download page for that motherboard, Windows 7 is not one of the OS choices. However, if you pick Vista, *some* of the listed drivers do say Windows 7. The management engine is not one of them though.

Not sure where you are reading this but according to what I read when I enter DP35DP in the box and look at the Choose Operating System box Windows 7 is listed as one of the choices.

But it appears there is no Management Engine Driver. Just the Chipset Driver and the Internet Driver.
