BOOTMGR is missing - help!
Running Windows 7 Home Premium i get BOOTMGR is missing Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart. I burned a Windows 7 disk and am able to boot from CD into the Windows Recovery Environment.
The Startup Repair tool doesn't seem to work. I've tried bootrec.exe /FixMbr and bootrec.exe /fixboot to no avail. Anything else I can try? |

I'm assuming your getting NTLDR missing?
Try another OS. Use it's patitioner to rewrite the boot sector. Partition the drive and format. Then go back to your Win 7 disk. You''ll be warned about how over writing the existing unkown files may be harmful(or wharever it says)and do it anyway. There may be a smarter or shorter way, but this ususally works for me. Or use one of the zerofill programs. I think mbrwizard can fully erase the first 63 sectors. I'm not real familiar with this method.

Before you go any farther, I'd run manufacturer's diagnostics on the hard drive. If they fail, you need a new hard drive.

Rwest, BOOTMGR Missing is an actual failed boot message.

Doesn't NTLR load after bootmgr?
I just loaded a live UBCD and used Parted Magic to backup the stuff I needed and about to reinstall. I'll update with how it goes but it should be fine. |
