win 7 anytime upgrade

my father bought a toshiba sattelite laptop with win 7 home premium 64bit nl (dutch).

But for his work, he needs a pro version of win 7 so that it can connect properly to the network domain controller there.

In the shop they told him he has to use the anytime upgrade website from microsoft. So i had a look and it is available there for 180 euro. (win 7 nl home premium to win 7 pro nl)

But, there is no mention if this is 64 or 32 bit. Does anyone know if it includes the upgrade for both?

and secondly, since this is not a "normal" win 7, but one that is pre-installed on this laptop, will it be able to retain the 'toshiba stuff' and all his personal files etc when i upgrade it to pro? Or do i have to ask toshiba for the upgrade somehow?

Anytime Upgrade will upgrade 32-bit to 32-bit and 64-bit to 64-bit. The upgrade doesn't affect your installed programs or settings.

180 euro sounds pretty steep for an upgrade. The going price here is $70 USD and you can buy a complete Win 7 Pro OEM for about $140.

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium to Pro Upgrade - Misco.co.uk

I believe they ship to Belgium.

i know, eveything it related is quite expensive here in belgium, and we have a 21vat on these products, that certainly doesn't improve prices either here.

my father really wanted a dutch version, so i went ahead and ordered the upgrade from the dutch microsoft store.
(plus it meant i could have it up and ready that same day for him)
it gave an error first time i tried the upgrade, but after resetting and trying again, it installed properly, and everything still appears to work as it should

thanks for the info everyone
