Hi Gang
When ever I go into my Device Manager, there are 2 little yellow exclamation marks next to Ethernet controller and Ethernet Network controller, should I disable them.? When I click on them to see the properties, or to update the drivers it gives me this. Drivers are not installed (code 28) Ethernet wise every thing seems to working ok. Can someone explain what I should be doing here.? Thanx....Gunny

What motherboard do you have, and do you have any network adapter cards too? What is your Ethernet cable plugged into?

Hi GLC
The MOBO is a Asus A8N SLI delux and no adapter card, and the Ethernet is pugged right into the MOBO. Thanx....Gunny |

That board has dual onboard Ethernet adapters, and you haven't installed the drivers for either one. One is integrated with the NForce 4 chipset, and the other is a Marvell. Asus does not provide any Windows 7 drivers for that board, it's too old. In short, if it ain't broke, don't fix it - if you mess with it you may kill it! Live with the flags. I dunno how it's working, but as usual, you have a situation that defies logic!

Hi GLC
You are probably right leave sleeping dogs lye. I noticed that before and you know how that goes, you get into this fix everything mood, and decide to fix this. Well being this MOBO is so old, no sense fooling with it. Its one of those things when ever things are working ok you kinda forget how old things get, so it is time to move up to bigger and better I guess. You would think it had to have some sort of a driver, I might have looked for one being I did not have the install disk, and it was not easy to find and it was working so I just let it go. Thanx.....Gunny... Sorry to hear about the terrible thing happening in your home state. |
