Task manager running slow

Hello there.
This is my first post here so first I'd like to say hi to all.
I have problem with task manager running quite slow, to the point it disturbs my work there... It takes few minutes only to list all the processes and afterwards when I click on some process, it takes a while for that process to get "clicked" (marked). It is really annoying.
My laptop is Lenovo y560 i3-330m model. 3gb of RAM, Windows 7 32-bit... cpu usage is only up to 5% and RAM usage is about 40-50% usually. Number of processes registered in my task manager is 70. I know that is a lot so I tried several things to get my task manager running faster: I tried disabling all startup processes in msconfig. I also tried BitDefender 2011 Internet securty scan, Malwarebytes scan, Sophos Anti-Rootkit scan. I defragment and clean up junk files regularly with TuneUp Utilities. I had TuneUp uninstalled though because I thought maybe it is the one that makes problems. Anyway, nothing helped.
Besides task manager, my Internet is also running slower than usual, although not much so it's difficult to say whether it is due to bad wifi connection. However, my Firefox takes about a minute perhaps to load, and it regularly gets blocked (not responding). I do not have any mozilla skins/themes installed and only about 2 add-ons, so nothing special really that could prevent its loading.
This problem is really annoying because I have no idea what is causing it. Can you help me? Or is my only option to format C and install Windows all over again?

P.S. Sorry for bad English, I'm writing this in a hurry

P.S.S. I also tried running Task Manager from safe mode where it appears to be working smoothly.. so it makes problems in "normal" version only

Why are you gauging the performance of task manager?

Your laptop has been probably hijacked.

Sorry to say this but you have to be very careful when disabling things. When you disable things, make sure you have good understanding of what the process does.

For the sake of time and to undo what you may have or have not done. I would suggest a fresh install at this point.

Keep it simple. Microsoft Security Essentials, Malewarebytes, and CCleaner is all you really need.

Hi there,
I didn't disable Windows system processes, only software that came with drivers and computer.. I was recommended that on some other forum. But later I enabled it again so everything is like before now.

How can I determine for sure if my laptop has been hijacked?

Trend Micro HijackThis - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Downloads

Set windows to Show hidden files and folders

You can then post the results (cut and paste) in this thread and we will see what we can find.

download microsoft system sweeper (known clean PC), burn to a disc and start the suspect laptop with it and scan. See what it finds. I will check back later or someone else may add to this thread.
