from windows 7 to windows XP

Hello guys,

I am currently running windows 7 on my advent laptop but there are no drives available...after long search of drives I have decided to re-install my windows XP but the system will not take as it an old version to the one I am currently running.

Is there any one who can show me how to revert back to windows XP?
thanks

You have to reformat and start from scratch.

Unhappy Help needed

Hi people
I tried to run that cd again... the system keeps telling me that there a newer version of window on my machine and will not take the old version.

Is there a way of removing window7 wintout running an XP dissk? or flash drive?

thanks

Send a message via AIM to Panama Red
Are you trying to run the XP cd with Win7 running? You have to use XP as a boot CD. If that doesn't work, download the Ultimate Boot CD and use one of the hdd tools on there to reformat your hard drive. Then boot to the XP cd and do the clean install.

hi where do i download the ultimate cd from?

yeah i tried both ways....trying to install window xp while window 7 running.

I also tried to boot my laptop from window xp disk but did not work then I used a flash drive this one worked but I got a message saying: ntdl ( something like that) is missing, press any key to continue, when I pressed the key there was nothing.

Ultimate Boot CD - Overview

Did you set the optical drive first in the boot order?

You can't do that.

Have you made sure that there are XP drivers for ALL your devices? Maybe it's Providence preventing you from going further ahead.

Why trying to go back to XP anyway?
