Windows 7 freezing/stalling at shut down
having this problem with windows 7 where when i go to shut down, windows shows the shutting down screen but then shows the message "configuring windows, please do not shut off your computer" and it just sits at that screen forever. i have to shut down manually to turn off the computer.
doing a quick google search seems like it is a common problem, but not sure how to fix it. i was hoping someone on here could point me in the right direction. any help is greatly appreciated. |

Did this start with the last batch of updates or have you had previous problems?
If it's the last updates do a restore and then do the updates manually one at a time until you find the culprit.

Turn off Windows Updates and see if the problem goes away. Control Panel > Windows Update.
