Need help with Iomega Prestige 500GB Portable Harddrive.
I got a Iomega 500GB Prestige 2.5 Portable Harddrive and they included some crap Encryption Software I don't want to use and when you plug the Harddrive in you get 2 auto play boxs that pop up the first is there encryption crap and the next box is so you can see what you have stored in the drive,I have tried refomatting the drive and I have also tried KillDisk the Boot CD and it won't pick up the drive and the Killdisk for Windows stops working when you plug this harddrive in.I was wondering can anyone tell me how to make there encryption crap go away,the box with there encryption junk that pops up says CD Drive(k) Iomega when you go to Computer in Win7it says it's 81.4MB Please help

I assume it is built into their firmware. Someone correct me if I am wrong. You may need to go into device manager and check on the format of the drive.

I'll check that when I get home,I think it is a seperate Partition,I know if I take the Hardrive out of the case and hook it up to the MOBO it would be found by Killdisk as I think the reason it can't be found is because of my MOBO won't regogize the harddrive threw USB,the olny thing I don't like is if I takr the Harddrive out of the case is because there are 2 scew on the front and there are 2 stickers and there are put there seals and if they are broken the warranty is gone.

I don't think it is in the firmware as it does show up in Disk Management as being 81.4MB
|

Is the partition NTFS format? How many partitions are on it?
What about installing and format the drive using Easus? Free Download Magic Partition Manager freeware: EaseUS Partition Manager, Disk & Partition Copy and Partition Recovery Software. |

I got it working now I just took the Hardrive out of the Case and hooked it up right to my MOBO and ran KillDisk threw it that way and now it's great.

This is why we recommend that people build their own external drives instead of buying them already assembled.
