Another annoying thing
Hi Gang...I did not expect to be back this soon, but I have another annoying little box that is coming up all the time. I have read and tried several things to correct this but no success. Again it is a very small problem, like my resolution problem, but still very annoying.
I am going to try and include a picture of this little box that keeps popping up. I am sure there is an easy fix for this. So I come to the experts for a fix. I am using Outlook 2010, and Yahoo mail. ![]() Thanx....Gunny

Hi GLC...Ha ha ha not that simple, even I know enough to do that, but it keeps coming back if you cancel or put the password in, and the password is always there, and it is correct. Is my ISP/Yahoo or Outlook/Microsoft, putting this out.??????
Thanx...Gunny |

Once you click OK do you get new mail? If not - you misspelled something. Maybe it should be ChevyVett@

Hi EZY....Ha ha ha ha very funny, chevyvette. No I don't get new mail, and it pops up on my MSN page, anytime. I don't have to have anything going on with my e-mail at the time. I leave my Outlook mail open with the Icon in my bottom taskbar, so all I have to do is click on it and there is my e-mail.
Thanx....Gunny |

If you aren't getting your mail, the password is wrong. Test it with your browser at mail.yahoo.com.

Hi GLC.... I am getting all my e-mails, at Yahoo and Outlook. No the pasword in that little box is correct every time, I never have to put it in there. That is what is puzzleing me, if it was wrong or not there then I would understand the warning, but it is there, and all the time. I have it set to leave my e-mails in the yahoo mail box so when I open my Outlook mail and I delete some e-mails they are still in my Yahoo mail account.
Thanx....Gunny |

Please list everything you have tried so far.
What are you using for an antivirus? How often do you have Outlook set to check for mail? |

Every minute is too often and Yahoo may be throttling you. Set it for 15 minutes.

Do you have the Premium account? I don't think you can setup the free account in an email app.
Your server info might be wrong. When I google Setup Yahoo etc.... I see info that is different then your screen shot: The incoming mail server value is plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com, using port 995 The outgoing server address is plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com, using port 465. Make sure to check both checkboxes: "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)", and "My outgoing server requires authentication". Setup Yahoo! Mail in Windows Live Mail |

No, he has a sbcglobal.net account, as do I. His settings are correct - for now. Mine still works, but it looks like they are going to be changing:
AT&T U-verse - TV, Internet & Voice- What are my email server settings (i.e., POP and SMTP)? |

Hi EZY and GLC.....The account I have with Yahoo is called a Yahoo Plus account, and I pay like an extra $20 a year for it and it supposed to do away with the ads. Which it does, and I have had this ever since Yahoo started putting all those ads on your e-mail pages like probably 6/7 years ago. And I have used the same settings for my Yahoo account for years, I mean years, and I don't change them, why would I.? This box started popping up just recently, and I cannot remember doing any changes that would mess with my mail. I am a firm believer in what is not broke don't mess with it. If I have learned anything from here it is this.
GLC.. It looks like you have AT&T's U-verse. I was going to go to that but every time I check I am like 5,000 ft too far away from a connection terminal to be able to get it. I hesitate even trying to get it because unless they run new cable to my street having U-verse will not give me any benefit. I have underground wiring in my neighborhood, and it has been there since 1967, not run in any conduit of any sort, so you can picture what it looks like now and why I am having problems with my phone/DSL for the last 10 years or more. This is why I am seriously thinking of going with Comcast for my DSL. I have a friend that lives a stones throw away and he went with U-verse, he has the same underground wiring I do and he is better with his DSL now but still not like it should be speed wise. And I think the reason for this is this he don't have the optical cable run to his house, it is used but only for a short distance then it connects to the same old crappy underground wiring to his house. Thanx...Gunny |

No, I don't have Uverse. I have the regular AT&T DSL, as do you. As I said, the settings you are using are still okay for that. I get the impression that the new Uverse settings MAY work for the old DSL account.
However - I don't understand how your settings would work for a Yahoo Plus account, unless you have it linked to your sbcglobal account? Is *********@sbcglobal.net in fact your email address? (starred out for security) Do you also have a ****@yahoo.com address? Comcast is not DSL, it's cable Internet. If you already have Comcast TV, you may want to look at upgrading to their Triple Play - bundling TV, Internet, and phone. |

Hi GLC....Yes I worded that wrong, sorry. I have Directv and I plan on keeping that, it is far better than Comcast on the TV side, but Comcast can get me like 12/15g for my DSL, where I am like paying some $33 a month for crappy DSL service, and I am lucky to get 1.6 on a good day from AT&T. I am supposed to be getting up to 3.0, the catch there is "up to" so they have you there, I am not getting the 3.0 but I am getting the 1.6 on a good day, and that is ok with them. And they have told me straight out they are not going to do anything for me, they are not going to tear up the street for me, and repair the cable ever. I have been told this by the big chiefs right to my face.
I wish I could talk to someone higher up the ladder with AT&T but I have been told that is not possible. So Have been paying for years and years for this crappy service, I pay my bill very month on time and this is how they treat a good customer. Yes that is my correct e-mail address, and no I don't have a @yahoo.com address. My sbcglobal address is the only one I have ever had. Thanx....Gunny |

If you cancel your DSL, you will lose the @sbcglobal.net e-mail address. Again, Comcast is not DSL, it's cable. If you can only get 1.6, why are you paying for 3.0? Save some money and downgrade to 1.5. |

Hi GLC
Yes I know about the DSL and Cable thing, I stand corrected. And yes I know I will lose the address, that is one thing that is holding me back a little, dragging my feet you might say. I am paying the exra for not getting the ads you normaly would get in your e-mail stuff, and part of it might be to be able to have my Yahoo mail and my Outlook mail joined. Use the pop 3 business.? Well to answer your question about paying for the 3.0, I am afraid that if I drop down, lord only knows I will get then. I am dealing wth AT&T here as you know and they are very independent out here, and I am afraid to make a change like that right now, I am in a bad situation now and don't want it to get worse. Every time you make a change like this it is hard to go back and they charge you for every little transaction. I don't want to confuse them any more than they already are. :-) The only small hold I have on them is the years I have been with them, and I use this as a tool to complain about my service, and they knock off a few bucks when ever I start threatning them with changing to Comcast. I did not understand what you are saying about the U-verse thing, how can you use the U-verse settings if you don't have that service.????? Is this some thing that AT&T plans on changing.? Thanx....Gunny |

Hi EZY... Yes it does to me too. But it works. :-)
I have tried several diff things in that box, both the POP and the SMTP settings, and nothing works but what I have if you go to the Yahoo site this is what they tell you to set them at. If you have the wrong thing in there if you do a test e-mail sending it will error and you have to change them. Thanx.....Gunny |

Because that's what AT&T uses for their @sbcglobal.net addresses. They outsourced the e-mail to Yahoo. Like I said, I have AT&T DSL, and that's the exact server I use for my @sbcglobal.net address.
HOWEVER!!!!! I just went into AT&T Support for "DSL High Speed" and the help page for e-mail settings now says this: Incoming (POP) inbound.att.net Outgoing (SMTP) outbound.att.net (requires authentication) Incoming mail server: POP3 Incoming/Outgoing User Name: Full AT&T email address, including domain (e.g., test@att.net, test@bellsouth.net) Incoming mail port #: 995, secure connection (SSL) checked Outgoing mail port # 465, secure connection (SSL) checked I just tried these - the OUTGOING server works, but the INCOMING does NOT. It connects without an error, but it does NOT show any mail. Setting it back to pop.att.yahoo.com gets my mail. |

But George says you have an sbcglobal.net account. Isn't that different than a yahoo account?
And the info I found for Yahoo Plus accounts says: The incoming mail server value is plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com, using port 995 The outgoing server address is plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com, using port 465 EDIT: We posted at the same time.... |

Several solution in this thread:
Outlook 2010 - new prompting for password The easiest one seems to be - zap the email account and then set it back up. |

CORRECTION:
inbound.att.net DOES work - the mail I was sending myself from another account was going to the spam folder. I logged in through the Web interface (which is STILL Yahoo) and flagged them as not spam, put them in the inbox, them my POP client downloaded them. |

Yahoo never changed to AT&T. AT&T is the one who outsourced their email out to Yahoo.
Just curious why you have a sbcglobal address instead of a pacbell address. |

HI GLC....Didn't AT&T buy out Pac Bell out here.? Some of these Co's buy and sell like you change your socks, it takes a Harvard Grad to keep up with this.

Yes they did, but AT&T has always allowed members to keep their old address after the buyouts.
Thinking about it - I do think PacBell sold to SBC Global, *then* SBC Global sold to AT&T. Did you get your account after the first buyout? |

Hi GLC... Heck I don't remember, must have cause I have always had the sbcglobal, I have been with them (AT&T) for at least 7/8 years. I have lived in the same house since 76, and have had a lot of diff phone Co's.
Thanx...Gunny |
