nstall Vista Home Premium x64 SP1 over Vista Home Premium - SP 2
Hi fellows,
same old story. anti-virus protection expired, the woman ran without protection & got infected. Avast, Avair, Malwarebytes, SAS, etc seem to have cleaned it up. But cannot get online &, according to Belarc, the computer is at least 43 updates behind in Windows patches. ![]() Also, when booting, I get the following messages: 'Failed to load UMCWL.DLL library file' 'google desktop did not startup successfully' So Toshiba's Pre-Installed Software included Google DeskTop. But Google Desktop was discontinued Inside Google Desktop Since she has no recovery / repair disks, my question. Is it possible to install Vista Home Premium x64 SP1 on this machine instead of the original software & thereby eliminate the Google error message? Computer is - Toshiba Satellite P205-S6307 - Vista Home Premium - sp 2 Thanks much |

It'll require a nuke and pave (format the drive) but yes - if you have a vaild unused keyed code you should be good to go.

For some Toshiba models you'll need a BIOS update for Windows 7 64 to run. Check at the Toshiba support web site.
