Problems with Computer
I'm working on a friends computer that she got from an abondoned storage unit sale. It's an Apple computer, HOWEVER, it's been converted to Windows and has Windows 7 Professional on it. It's password protected and of course nobody knows what the password is. Sooooooo? What are my options? I think she's willing to buy another copy of windows. Is that the only real solution? I tried "switching users", typing in a user name and password but all i get is an error message saying, "There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request". I've got it plugged into my router. I tried loading my own copy of W/7 i can hear the cd-rom drive working but nothing happens. No idea what to do next.

Not much you can do if you do not have that key. Look on the bottom and the inside cover of the side panel just to make sure.

I can see remnants of a sticker that might have been the COA. Unreadable! Damn things only 2 years old too. Dated 2009. Oh well. I'll tell her it's a lost cause. Unless you can think of something.

If you can't get it to boot with a CD, it has a hardware issue that you can't do anything about yourself due to Apple's proprietary hardware.

I can't get it to boot with a CD. Quite frankly i'm surprised somebody was able to load Windows on an iMac computer! Apples to oranges right? So this computer is nothing more than a paperweight huh? I'll break the bad news to her.

You might be able to use an external USB DVD drive.

It might be setup with dual boot using Apple's Boot Camp utility. If so, you should be able to press the Alt key during boot to alternate between Windows and Mac OS. Read about Boot Camp here.

I'll see if i can get my hands on a USB External DVD Drive. Strollin', pretty sure it's not a "dual boot" situation. Pressing the "alt" key during boot does nothing.
