Switching off this feature??

Hi All,

I am not sure of the exact terminology of this issue.

when I click on some text in any program, post it notes, word, IE etc but particulary google toolbar.

Generally all the text gets highlighted in blue.

How can I stop this happening automatically? I am am quite happy to select the text I want to but I don't want windows ASSuming for me.

This has happended on every operating system I have used but I am not sure what the process is called, until then...

Many Thanks!

Does this happen in a different browser like Chrome or Firefox?

How long has this been happening? Do you have a restore point since before this started happening?

I don't believe there is any way to turn this off. The easy work around is to simply double click.

Is it possible you are in 'double click' mode? First click highlights and selects then the second click opens or executes.

Whereas in single click mode if you hover over something it will be highlighted and click to open it.

Only browser I've seen that doesn't do it is Safari.

Pretty sure he's talking about things like clicking on the Address line in a browser - it will automatially hightlight the whole address..... (sounds normal to me)

Also MS Word for example as a function where if you have your pointer in the left margin - the mouse pointer angles to the right... and will hightlight the whole sentence.

Both of these can be easliy overcome with another click or two... I don't think you can disable any of this....
