Question Getting notices of not valid copy.

Hi Gang

A while back I was on here about the problem of getting my valid copy of Win 7 to be verified. And Microsft told me that the reason it could not be verified was because one of the updates some how goofed it up, so long story short they sent me a new copy of Win 7.

Ok everything was great for a while, then about every 7-10 days down in the right hand corner I get the same message, "your copy of win 7 is not varified".

Ok so I go through my control panel to the sysyem and where is says to change your Prod key, I click on that and put in the Prod key and it varifies it and I am back in business, no little messages down there, for about 7 to 10 days, and there it is again. I have done this probably 4 or 5 times now, and each time it varfies it Has Microsoft changed something, or is this something that might be lingering in my computer from the last time.?

Any ideas of what could be going on here, is it time to call Microsoft again.?

Thanx....Gunny

Call Microsoft if the automated validation system is not working for you.

Hi David M

Ok I was thinking that way too, do you have any idea of why it was ok for a while then this started all of a sudden. I don't think it has any connection to any update this time.

Thanx.....Gunny

Sorry, I don't have any ideas. I am thinking Microsoft might have an idea.

Are you changing out any of your hardware? Sometimes when you do change out hardware you will need to revalidate. I recently had to revalidate a copy of Vista and all they wanted to know is that I had this license on only one computer.

Hi David

No hardware changes, no real changes to speak of. I have not watched it that close but it seems to be like timed, every so many days.

Thanx...Gunny

What is validation and how does it work? - Microsoft Windows

After reading the above - use the "Validate Now" button on the page.

Hi Ezy

Ok I tried that and it said it was interrupted, so they tell you to remove the update,KB971033. So I did this, and I did notice that when this was installed it to the best of my memory this started about then too. I will try this "validate now" thing again and see what happens.

Thanx....Gunny

Hi Gang

Well I un-installed that KB971033 and redid the Validation now thing and it shows it is good to go.

From what I have read this update is a bad one causing more problems then it fixes. If they can give you the updates why don't they take that one away and fix it if that is possible.

Thanx.....Gunny
