C: partition keeps getting smaller
So i have a 2tb hard drive..i partitioned that into a 195gb C: drive and the rest is my D: drive for date..problem is im already down to 150gb on the cd drive and everyday the C: drive gets 1gb smaller...any ideas why? i realize i have 150gb left but its troubling that its getting 1gb smaller everyday. just doesnt make sense to me

That's strange; not even the winsxs folder grows that fast. Try running chkdsk on the partition in question.

ok let me give a little more info..my drivers are on that drive, some of the programs for intel, evga, and nic card are too..and the winsys folder is around 17.8gb in size..all the other folders say they add up to 3.55gb..but my computer says ive used 40.9 of my 195gb

ive only got three games on here and those save to my documents on the C: partition and they only add up to 100...weirdest thing is i just built this computer so its not like its been up and running for 5 years getting temp files and crap saved to the C: drive

when i check properties for the files in C: drive it says their only 21.1 gb in size but my computer says that its using almost 40gb

That's why I suggested running chkdsk: this might be something as simple as free space incorrectly reported. Chkdsk fixes that.

fix file system errors and scan and attempt recovery of bad sectors?

just ran chkdsk without attempt to recover bad sectors..and it still says 40.9gb used

I'd do just the fix file system, seeing that the drive is relatively new.

disk manager also says the same that its using 40gb..is there a chance that properties isnt picking up files that say could be hidden?

maybe this is me just being naive but i dont think my computer/explorer and properties shows the same thing...i just check our other computer and same deal..one shows 200gb other way shows 111gb..the problem cant be that coincidental that it happened twice..can it? lol

Disable System Restore on all drives but the OS drive and even then, set its size to no more than 10 GB.
