Question Is there a setting I am missing.?

H Gang

Is there a setting I am missing, or have something checked that should not be.???

Like I will be going down a list on say Craigslist, I will click on one of the posts, and when I came back to the list it takes me to the top of the page, not where I left off at the post I clicked on. I might be on the bottom of the list, and click on something, and bang I am at the top of the page.

Using IE 9 and Win 7.

Thanx....Gunny

Why don't you middle click on the link to open it in a new tab? (The scroll wheel will act as a middle click)

Hi GLC

I am not sure you are understanding my post

When you click on an ad and open it up, to see what all the details are with it, then you either do something with it, or you close it and move on, well when I close it to go on to the next one, I have to scroll all they way back to where I was, it should bring me back right where I was. And it is not doing that, it takes me to the top of the page instead. It just started to do this recently, and I tried closing it and starting over but that does not correct it. I was wondering if possibly it might be a mouse setting, or a folder setting.

Thanx.....Gunny

Are you talking about a Javascript popup? What happens if you DO middle click on it to open it?

HI GLC

I still think you are missing something here, either you are not understanding the problem or I am describing it wrong.

There is no Javascript pop up at all. I don't get a pop up at all. It is just when I come back to the list, instead of coming back to the top of the list.

Tell you what, sign into Craigslist and click on say Electronics and go down to the bottom of the list and click on one of them, open it and then click to go back to the list, does it take you back to the bottom of the list or the top. It should take you back to where you was not up to the top of the list

Thanx.....Gunny

No problems here...

dallas craigslist > services offered > automotive services

If I use the Back Button.... I go back to where I was... If I click the automotive services link I go back to the top of the list which is what I would except it to do.

Gunny, YOU are not understanding what I'm trying to say - DO NOT simply left click on the link - that is going to open the new page in the SAME tab or window. Open it in a new tab or window - that way you will still have the original page, untouched.

A middle click should open the page in a new tab, with a right click you can choose new tab or new window.

Hi GLC

Now I understand what you are saying. That would be a round about way of doing this, I should simply click on my back button either on my keyboard, or mouse and return to the post that I clicked on last. Not go to the top of the list and have to scroll back down again to find the one I clicked on. This is the way it has worked for a lot of years, but something changed

Do you agree with that.? You are forgetting I don't have normal problems. :-)

Thanx....Gunny

See my post above where the back button works like a charm.

No explanation, but I got into the middle click habit a LONG time ago when I started using tabbed browsers (remember, I avoid IE like the plague). I don't see it as being roundabout at all.

HI GLC

I guess it is all what you get used to doing, that is why there is so many ways of doing the same thing. :-)

I use the tabs too but it is easier for me to just click the old back button. I don't hate IE, I just accept them as they are. :-) I think we all can find a fault with each and every thing there is involved with working on a computer, most times it is a matter of what you get use to using, faults and all.

Thanx....Gunny

The back button on IE7 & IE8 and FF all work well for me... The back button on my mouse works too... I just simple go back to the list and am not taken to the top.

Did you make any type of change to your system?

Hi EZY... You know how that goes, I might have but nothing that should change this. I started using a diff mouse, a Logitech, and I down loaded the drivers for it. I looked at the preferences for the mouse and everything there looks good, nothing out of the ordinary. I did this new mouse business a couple of weeks ago, and the problem did not start doing this until a couple of days ago.

Thanx....Gunny

Hi All

Does anyone even have a remote idea as to what could be causing this. I know I come up with some strange things, but every time I keep thinking I cant be the only person that frequents PCmech that has had this same problem.

Shoot me your best shot on this, I don't care how crazy it sounds.

Thanx.....Gunny
