BSOD win 7 ultimate

just built this computer.

Windows 7 ultimate 64 with sp1
Asus p8z68-v/gen3
i5 2500k
4x4g corsair vengeance 240 pin ddr3 1600
Ati radeon hd4890 gpu
Antec neo 620w psu
LG dvd-rw drive
320gb seagate hd.

The HD, and the gpu are recycled from my last build.
Obviously the HD was wiped and had windows freshly installed onto it.

started getting this BSOD:
Modification of system code or a critical data structure was detected

STOP: 0x00000109 (0xa3a039d8a2c664f6, 0xb3b7465ef54334bc, 0xfffff80002f93050,0x0000000000000001)

I ran 2 passes of memtest86, got 2 passes. As far as i have found all drivers are up to date. Computer is not overclocked at all.

Doing a system restore i kind of pointless because it has only been running for like 3 days.

EDIT: and i ran it in safe mode with networking for a few hours and it didnt crash, but sometimes it happens twice an hour, and sometimes it happens once in 12 hours... so idk.

Have you checked for malware?

2 passes is not enough, run at least 6. Pull out the memory and reseat it as well.

Download and run CCleaner, particularly the registry cleaner.

i have already run the registry cleaner using CCleaner.
What free software would you recommend for finding and fixing malware?

I originally installed Ad-aware but wasnt really happy with it, i switched to microsoft security essentials and ran a scan, but didnt find anything. I have always used AVG, but decided to try something different this time.

Should i re-seat the ram before i run memtest again?

Run Malwarebytes.

Yes about reseating the RAM.

I would. If MSE did not find anything you are clean. Did you run it in safe mode?

Yes re-seat the RAM, run the test at least 6 passes.

If clean (no errors) then proceed to download who crashed and see if it isolates the BSOD. Stop code 019 is very broad. Report back.
Resplendence Software - WhoCrashed, automatic crash dump analyzer

Also, how are your temps?

Are there any yellow marks in Device manager?

before i saw that you said to run malware bytes i ran microsoft malware scanner (or w/e its called) and the computer crashed before it finished.. this time i got the following:

0x00000109

Im going to try and reseat the ram, run a bunch if memtests. if that fails i will remove all but 1 stick and see what happens.

If bsod goes away with only 1 stick in i will go from there.
lso there is no yellow marks in device manager

so i was running it and realized the memory was running at like 8xxmhz as apposed to 1600 like its supposed to.

I messed with it and accidentally started the tests over again, lol.
Made it through 3 passes though!

I went into the bios to check the frequency setting on the ram, i set it to 1600mhz, like its supposed to be.. and changed the voltage from 1.508 to 1.5 like corsair recommends

When i went to save the bios and restart: the computer would turn off and then refuse to start back up... it would power on, and then turn off..
I had to kill the switch on the back, and then flip it back on and push the power button.
When it turned on again it said something along the lines of "overclock settings have failed, press f1 to enter set-up...

I have not even messed with overclocking anything...
Temps are fine... 33c on the cpu

Is it a problem that memtest was running at a lower freq than 1600? or is that normal?

reset the BIOS with the default settings, reboot. While were at it, what BIOS version are you using?

Run memtest again.

What are your temps?

Did you run who crashed yet?

i booted to run prime95 and check temps... cpu temp says -60c... but core temps are 65c~72c...which doesnt seem possible... Also cpu fan speed jumps randomly from 4000 rpm to 19000 rpm, which obviously isnt right...

I have 3 200mm case fans, 3 120mm case fans, and 1 140mm case fan (all set up for proper intake/exhaust).
The cpu is using an arctic cooling freezer pro rev 3 heatsync that i applied with arctic cooling thermal paste... and i didnt over-do it either, just a pea sized glob on the center of the cpu.

I will get you the other information you asked for shortly

On Fri 1/6/2012 7:22:32 PM GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\010612-39000-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x7CC40)
Bugcheck code: 0x109 (0xA3A039D8A2C664F6, 0xB3B7465EF54334BC, 0xFFFFF80002F93050, 0x1)
Error: CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION
file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: NT Kernel & System
Bug check description: This indicates that the kernel has detected critical kernel code or data corruption.
This might be a case of memory corruption. More often memory corruption happens because of software errors in buggy drivers, not because of faulty RAM modules.
The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver which cannot be identified at this time.

You have a bad driver from something. Have you loaded any drivers? If yes and how? Or have you let Windows handle all of them?

Your gonna run hot in Prime 95. I was wondering what it was in Windows or BIOS with normal running, not stressed. Why are you running Prime95 on a BSOD system?

You still have not told me about your memtest results with 6 passes.

Sorry, i have alot going on, its hard to keep track of everything.
My stable temps are 29c on the cpu, which is good in my book

I was running prime95 because i was trying to make it crash, sounds dumb now that i think about it... haha. Iwas looking for more info and the bsod was giving me info, but i wont be doing that anymore.

As for drivers, i installed all of the drivers that were included on the CD that came with the mobo. Any other drivers were handled by windows.
Come to think of it, i noticed installing windows sp1 seemed to be the point when all the trouble started.

As for memtest, i got 6 consecutive passes out of it last night, so that's a good sign.

You should be able to do a system restore from the point of SP1. May or may not be the issue however.

I would go to the Asus website and verify all your driver version numbers to make sure they are current. Check the chipset, lan, etc. Check your video card from ATi website. Or you could just re-install the OS. If you need to load drivers, go to the Asus website for this. I suspect that a wrong driver is loaded for a device. Windows usually loads all the drivers automatically and the Asus cd is not required. I can see you doing it for the video card.

I would also run hard drive diagnostics but you will have to download that from Seagate.

It's possible that WindowsUpdate brought in a driver that made your system unstable. I've seen that often on Dell's specifically. If you haven't already, I'd suggest unchecking the option "Give me recommended updates the way I receive important updates" in your WU settings.

i did a system restore to before sp1... bsod went away!
I let it idle for a day and still no crashes..

I decided to try and install sp1 again through windows update to see if the bsod issue came back, when doing so the update failed.

Error found: error code
