Trying to uninstall Open Office. Went to control pnl & chose uninstall program, chose open office & clicked uninstall, it says “the system admin has set policies to prevent this installation” my user is the admin…how can I uninstall this? Thanks!! DD

If it was not too long ago that you installed the software you could try a System Restore. I do that when I am at wits end, as a last resort.

It has been almost a year. It's a laptop that I take into peoples homes & run insurance quotes. Some of them use Excel & after my "free trial" of ms office ran out I thought I could get by installing the free Open office, but keeps freezing or won't open the file & I've finally had enough. I really want to uninstall it & I'm afraid restore may have undesired affects.
Thanks!! DD |

Yup, its been too long to do a system restore. You would lose way too much data. I'm sure someone like glc or jdeb will have some ideas.

You could try Revo Uninstaller to see if it can do the uninstall.

CCleaner should do it. I have used it for that application.
Is there an uninstall applet from the start/programs/openoffice folder? That is always my first choice, ccleaner or windows second. If yes (uninstall applet) you may be able to right click on the uninstall icon and select run as administrator but I am not by a windows 7 machine to verify. |

Or log into the Administrator account and smoke OpenOffice from there.

That is too simple need to restart the system and press F8 to boot in safe mode and after restart the system normally go to control panel>add and remove programs and remove open office application.
