Specs, please.

Have you set the boot order in the bios to boot from CD/DVD first? Is the OS DVD genuine or a burned copy?

I'm not sure how to set the boot order. It's a OEM version right from Microsoft.

The boot order is in the bios settings. Read your motherboard manual.

2 manuals in there - one is the bios manual. If you are unfamiliar with bios settings, you are going to need it.

Thanks alot man. So I just change the boot order and boot from a cd in order to install the os, once it's installed do I go back in the bios and change it to boot from the harddrive?

Most people go back and change it but if you leave it as first boot device and don't put a bootable CD in the drive it will timeout and boot from the hdd. If you change the boot order to hdd 1st it will boot a little faster.

Sounds good, This was my first build and not knowing much about the inner workings of computers really opened my eyes. This was pretty enjoyable too. Thanks a lot guys!

Did you get the OS loaded and updated? Did you get your drivers installed? Did you load some anti-malware software?
