Recover data after doing system restore
I have used programs such as GetDataBack on faulty or corrupted hard drives before but never on a system after someone has done a full restore to factory procedure as I would think the results would not be good. Am I right or is it possible you might be able to get some of the data back if you tried right away?

I have used a program call Recuva from Piriform (makers of CCleaner) and it works pretty well. I once saved some pics (most of them) for a customer who did just that. Needless to say they were very happy.

Depending on the level of format you should be able to get some stuff back. You will probably be prompted to save any recovered files to a different harddrive so that when you save you don't overwrite what you are trying to recover.

Thanks. I will certainly try it out when I need it.

To help increase your odds->
STOP using the computer... Each and every temp internet file ETC being written to the disk is making it harder to get stuff. Slave the drive to another pc so that installing Recuva doesn't make things worse.
