Classic Shell works in Windows 8 too!
Hi
I was reluctant to install Classic Shell in Windows 8. Partly because I thought I should get used to the new layout and partly because I've already crashed W8 and had to reinstall twice because of installing things designed to modify Windows 7. Don't try Start Sound Changer!!!! Or Magic Folders until they come out with aversion designed for W8! But I finally decided to give it a try, and it works great. Gives me back the same interface I use in Windows 7 and seems to fix the same problems in W8 that Windows Explorer had in Windows 7. Now about the only difference I see is that Widows 8 is noticeable faster then 7. I have all my software installed in it now and am not using W7 at all. I finally got Adobe InDesign CS4 installed last night, I had to install CS2 which will not run in 64 bit just so that CS4 would install and authenticate. It wouldn't accept any of my older registration numbers as proof for the upgrade, but once it saw an earlier version installed it did it. Adobes security is tough! Anyway I always have used Classic Shell in W7 and I'm really happy to see it works in W8 too. Mike |
