I recently purchased a new Acer with an i7 processor and Windows 7. I have attached a Logitech wireless keyboard and wireless mouse. I have the mouse and keyboard both ~1m (close) from the receivers on the CPU.
I have two problems: 1. The monitor will not enter screensaver mode. 2. The mouse (even with fresh batteries) provides a very choppy and sporadic cursor response. Any help with either of these two problems would be greatly appreciated.

It's most likely one of the many background processes running. Preloads are famous for putting 10 tons of crap in the startup.

You also have to review your startups, processes, and services.

Hi
CCleaner has a nice interface to dealing with start-up items. It shows you a list and lets you turn them on and off at will. I only have about 1/4 of the things that would start active. And it will clean out any junk you have lying around, i.e. temp files etc. I haven't had good luck with cordless mice myself but the problem could be with the mouse. Can you try it on another computer? As for the Screen Saver I don't have a clue, but you can set the computer to turn the monitor off in the Power Settings at what ever timing you want. Mike |

I have seen the screen saver problem happen many times due to the wireless mouse/keyboard, usually they are of the microsoft brand. Set the screensaver for 1 min and unplug them to test. If it works check for an update on your mouse/keyboard software.
