Help!
Well, I screwed something up. I was trying to open an unknown file, and windows gave me the option of Windows Media Center. So like a dummy, I clicked on it. It made all my programs open with WMC I tried to restore to an earlier point, but it said I can't. Anyone know of a way to fix this? It happened to me a few years ago, but I don't remember what I did.
Thanks! Last edited by auen1; 05-16-2012 at 07:54 AM. |

Yep, Win7. I'm looking through the link, but not sure what I'm supposed to reset. WMC seems to want to open all .exe files. What would the default need to be set as?

Dang, that fix exactly described my problem. I followed the directions and the cmd said it was successful. But no change after reboot. I'll try it again.

Good news, I got it fixed. Odd how it happened though. I ran the fix jdeb gave me again no dice. Every program still opened with WMC. So I thought, what the heck, at least I can probably view my pictures I just took, that were on my SD card. As soon as I stuck it in there, everything started to unlock, I could see my files again, but all the programs still had the WMC icon. I clicked a program, and all icons returned to normal. I guess the card shocked the system, but no doubt jdeb's fix suggestion had the most to do with it.
Thank you jdeb. I was sweating bullets. ![]() I remember how I fixed it last time, I nuked the drive. Probably completely unrelated, when I try to access PCM forums now with my regular ISP, it will not connect. But I tried a proxy and it connects right away. Could it be my IP is now blacklisted with PCM? All other websites work fine. Last edited by auen1; 05-16-2012 at 03:29 PM. |

If it were blacklisted, you would still connect - you would get a screen telling you that your IP is banned.
I see who your ISP is, and you were actually connecting through their proxy. Satellite ISP's all have them. |
