I don't understand this at all
So I removed my Intel Solid State Drive and replaced it with a new Seagate mechanical cuz my Intel Drive got extremely screwed up. I have two internal Seagate drives.
Both were blank and wiped. Zeroed out. I put in the Windows 7 disk and it highlights where Windows will be installed. Disc 0 Unallocated Space. I say yes and proceed. When the installation is completed I look in Disk Management and I simply don't understand what Windows did. It looks like it put Windows (C: Drive) on Disk 1, and it took Disk 0 and put that 100 MB System Reserved Partition at the beginning of that. I am currently created a second partition named F: and it looks like it will be after the System Reserved Partition on Disk 0. I don't get this. Wasn't Windows supposed to put the 100 MB System Reserved Partition at the beginning of Disc 0 and follow that with the rest of the C: Drive? Weird. Last edited by 357mag; 01-30-2013 at 05:49 AM. |

Did you have both drives connected during the install?

Sounds normal to me. You should have only had the one drive hooked up during the install.

I didn't touch the second internal Seagate. Left that alone so yes that was hooked up as always. Sounds very odd to me that Windows would put that 100MB System Partition on a different drive.

AND, the two drives are now joined at the hip.. Pretty certain that if you were to remove the second drive - the pc won't boot. If you think you'll need to pull the second drive you might want to consider redoing the install without the second drive attached. |
