Internet Explorer has stopped working

As soon as I bring up Internet Explorer, a Dialog box comes up saying that it has stopped working. Then it goes into an infinite loop of trying to reload the page and saying it is trying to fix the problem. The only thing I can do is to keep hitting the close button in the upper right hand corner to eventually shut it down. The Installshield Update program has similar problem. This all seems to have started after a recent update through InstallShield. Google Chrome works fine. I have Windows Vista Home Premium.

Any help in getting this resolved would be appreciated.

Do a system restore back to a date/time before the bad update.

Does a box pop up giving an "error code"?

Hi

You don't say what operating system you are using be careful to note the difference between system restore and loading a restore point in Windows 8.

The first option in Windows 8 can wipe your hard drive.

The thing I would try first is to go to control panel / add remove programs / / Windows components.

Uncheck Internet Explorer.

Say OK

It will uninstall IE.

Then reboot.

If you use CCleaner run the registry scan. (optional)

When the computer is back up, repeat the process and go back to the same place and recheck the box.

Windows will reinstall Internet Internet Explorer and reset it to normal settings.

Most of the time this will fix issues like this.
