Question New keyboard and mouse

Hi Gang

I just bought a new Logitech MK710 combo keyboard and mouse and I installed the drivers for them and every thing seems to be working ok, all the buttons and bells and whistles seem to be working all right.

One problem when I go to boot up or shut down my computer I get this little box saying end program, program hidden d3d, and gives you the choice of end now or cancel. If you click end now the computer will reboot or shut down, and if you cancel it will not shut down it will go back to the desk top.

I did a little searching on it and it comes back to Logitech. I can get rid of this little box if I go into startup and uncheck both Logitech items, but them most extra keys on my keyboard will not work. And I have tried unchecking one at a time and either one unchecked will stop a lot of the keys on my keyboard from working.

The way I read it Logitech has a problem and won't admit it. Just wondering if any of you have run across this.

Thanx....Gunny

No one has the heart to tell you that Logitech is famous for poor drivers and there's not much you can do

Did you check their web site for newer drivers?

Hi EZY

Hey I am a big boy I can take rejection. :-) Ya I aware this was the case with Logitech some time ago but I thought they changed their way of doing business.

So I guess I will check and make sure this is their latest drivers.

Thanx....Gunny

Hi redvette, I use a logitech mouse and have had the same problem. I would get that same error that would prevent shut down just as you described. But since I reloaded the drivers, the problem has disappeared.

Hi Auen1

I will try that too. I did go into my start-ups and I unchecked both Logitech items, and of course some of my keyboards keys did not work, so I went back in and checked one at a time, and it made no diff still some of keys did not work, so I have to leave them both checked.

Thanx....Gunny

Just don't use logitech drivers. Uninstall the drivers, reboot and use the drivers windows loads for the keyboard and mouse. Then run Windows Update to check for the newest drivers that are MS certified. Some of your specifics may not work but the basic functions will. That should solve your problems.

Disable Logitech Bluetooth 'auto-start' function in msconfig... it should look like "KhalScroll.exe"

Here is some additional stuff to read up on...

Can you still return the keyboard? There are plenty of other choices out there.

HI JDEB

Sorry I do not find anything like that in msconfig. Ther are only 2 diff things in there for Logitech. And I have tried unchecking one at a time to see if one is just triggering it, no luck there.

Thanx....Gunny
