Lightbulb What hardware to Buy?

im not upgrading my current computer i want to build a new one.
I know I could just go out and buy one, but I want to learn how they work and hopefully maybe even get a little more for my money, if that's possible.
i have a budget between $1000 and $1500.
i dont know what hardware to buy and if i should use vista.
i dont really want to play any computer games, but download a lot of music and surf the web.

Vista doesn't require any hardware so expensive and powerful that you couldn't afford it, so no worries. With that budget you can put together a very nice system that will be fine for Vista. We recommend the Asus P5B motherboards, Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs and 1 or 2GB of DDR2-667.

We have been recommending that new builds go with a copy of XP and a Vista upgrade coupon. That way you have the stability of XP now and you can upgrade to Vista when the first service pack comes out to squish some of the bugs that are inevitable in a new OS.

There's a good review here: http://www.trustedreviews.com/notebo...ndows-Vista/p1

Some tech requirements are on page 5 to get right to it.
