Vista and Music?

I heard a rumor from a friend that Vista wont let you rip or download music unless it has a music copy right code on it? Is this true? I mean I have a lot of music that lost its copy right because I use to burn them to CD befor I got my MP3 player. Have you guys heard of this?

I ran Vista's beta for a bit and was able to play mp3s from a secondary HD. The mp3s were ripped by me using Musicmatch so I'm under the impression that there was no copyright info attached.

Your post got me somewhat paranoid now though. (eeek)

I know what you mean man me too! But again the info I got it from was not a reliable source it was a rumor. Plus this person like to boast alot and thinks he knows everything when indeed its not the case. But I'm just making sure.

Good call, Im New - and we would also like to ask you to type in proper English here, not IM speak. This is not a chatroom. Pretend you are writing something to turn in at school. Thank you.

Alrighty, I just got done trying to call Microsoft about this issue and I keep getting disconnected. However, my friend across the street has just purchased Vista and he has no issues with putting music on His computer. Lets just say he gets his music from a place where you don't buy it and Ill leave it at that. So in conclusion I don't think the're any problems.

Not everyone here is of your generation and they have a hard time following slang. This forum is a lot more formal than a lot of them out there.

I have the latest retail build of Ultimate and I havent noticed any issues getting music..I did however pull my media collection across the network from one pc to another to the Vista rig and it had no problems loading...

It is easier for me to do that than sit there and reload 200 CD's back to the rig again and again...

Now I will tell you that it will not let you share music thru a messenger service..

Is it possible that what your friend was referring to was Windows Media Player adding DRM to files as you encode them? Thats the default behavior for WMP regardless of OS.
