splat First time pc builder installing Vista

Components:

Asus P5B mobo
Intel duo core cpu
(2) matching SATA hd individually interfaced (no RAID)
(1) SATA DVD ROM/copier
Floppy drive
Geforce graphics card
Vista deluxe os

Two things seem to be holding me up. I am being asked for a diskette that I assume contains BIOS settings, but have not seen an option to back up these settings. And in Windows Install I am being told that drivers for my hardware are not being found. None of my drives came with discs. I'm Stumped.

You need to load the drivers from the disk that came with the motherboard and then things like sound card and vid card also should have come with a disk that you'll need to load drivers for. You sometimes have to load the sata drivers into the windows installation program via floppy disk but you seem to have gotten ast that point so just get windows up and running then first laod any motherboard drivers that are needed from the disk that came with it, then go on to vid card, sound and any other devices you have.Your right you don't need drivers for the drives themselves.

For your onboard devices, check out the Asus website .. they have the Vista drivers for your mobo.

My thoughts are that Plextor (I have one and it works great) drives should work flawlessly; however, I don't see Plextor doing anything more than making sure that their current drives work fine with Vista since Plextor is getting out of the cd/dved drive market.
