Be careful installing Diskeeper on Vista machines!

I installed Diskeeper 7 on my Vista machine and it did not work.

I uninstalled it and now Vistas Disk Defragmenter does not work.

I know Diskeeper 7 is an older version but I've enjoyed using it for a few years now so am disappointed it does not work with Vista.

Great information to know. I wonder if it applies to newer versions as well.

Looks to me like the only version of Diskeeper that's Vista-compatible is 2007. You really need to be more careful installing older software on Vista - *especially* system utilities. Always check compatibility. You really shouldn't be disappointed - version 7 is 4 versions old now.

I use(d) it because it was a freebie on a magazine CD and I have always liked using it.

I have mentioned Diskeeper 7 specifically because unusually it appears to have damaged my installation of Windows Vista by causing Disk Defragmenter to stop working.

So do a system restore - that's what it's for.

Never thought of that - I simply reinstalled the OS.
