speed up the launch of FireFox

go to the properties of the shortcut you use to launch firefox and in the target box type "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" /prefetch:1 (obviously if you have a different path then change it)

This only works in XP, im not sure exactly how much its speeded up but it seem to work for me

i think 1 would work again, look at your WMP player icon prperties and that also uses the /prefetch:1 command thing

i am not sure of the adverse affects this has on your computer but if you look in c:\windows\prefetch there is a load of stuff that seems to correspond with the files that use this function.

Great tip, seems to work for me...also, nice heads up on the Firetune app. Will check it out.

Edit: just tried out that Firetune app, and wow, it sure makes this site fly! I'm impressed with the results.

what exactly does firetune do to make it faster? It doesnt cache contents of pages so it doesnt need to reload them does it? like temp files.

i THINK firetune has pre-set 'userpref.js' files built into it and whichever option you pick it sets the relevent one, this is only what i think tho im in no way sure.
