Cool Windows XP tips

A lot of people are asking if going to Windows XP is a good idea. My personal advice would be go for it. Dirver compatability is not an issue, and you can run a driver in a previous OS's mode. Say you've got an old Awe64, and XP won't support the sound drivers. Just tell it to use the drivers in Win98 mode, and you have the sound you have been used to!
Another great feature is if you decide you can't stand XP, you can tell it to uninstall itself. That is, if you used an upgrade. I did this with RC2 before I knew about the driver compatability feature. It set me back to my Win98se settings from a week before, and it took less than an hour to do.
Also, the game support is great! I have some games that Win2k would not run, but my 98 machine would. I loaded them on XP, and I was back in action!
The only downside that I have seen is that if you are used to Easy CD Creator, you will have to find a different CD Burner program. Also, for antivirus protection, you either have to do some patching in Norton 2001, or get yourself a copy of 2002.
Overall, I would give XP a 9 of 10 score. Solid as Win2k, but much more useful. They definitely recovered from the embarassment of WinMe!
