How To: Swap Motherboard Without Clean Installing Windows Or Running A Repair
Not sure if it is a repost or anything. Mods feel free to remove it if there is a problem.

![]() A friend sent me the link to the thread and I thought it was an interesting method... I didn't have a chance to try it yet... so I just copied and pasted it here to see if anyone had any input on it. |

These instructions, as well as the method glc references, are all well and good IF you can still boot with the old hardware. Most of the time the need for a new mobo is precipitated by the old one failing completely. That failure leaves you with the only option being a repair install of XP. Time to dig out the Slipstreamed SP2 disk and use the exisiting Product Key (if the label is on the case!).
