Great Little Diagnostic Tool
After reading a post by GLC (thanks GLC) I downloaded a great little program called EndItAll from here. In addition to it's main use of ending all running processes that can be ended, I have found a new use for this program. EndItAll allows you to protect running processes from the ones to be shutdown. Therefore you can shut down programs of your choice. If you have a cpu that is flaky because of software that you are running, but don't know what is causing the problem, you can now shut down individual processes by protecting all of them and then unprotecting the one you want to shut down. Since this does not require a reboot, this is great for identifying the program(s) that are causing you problems. Much faster than unchecking them in msconfig and then rebooting.

Yes, End it All is cool. I only have 2 thumbs, both go up.
I've played with couple other such utilities, this seems to give the most comprehensive list of what's running, and the most leeway in deciding what to do with what it lists. |
