burning CCD format

I am new to burning CD's. Is it possible to copy a single CD
song from a CD in CD format to the hard drive and then burn
that onto a CDR ? I want to create a CD with my favorite songs
and I want the CD readable with my CD player (not mp3)

thanks!!!

Certainly. CD recording software allows you to save CD tracks to hard disk instead of doing direct CD-to-CD copying, so you can collect your songs on your HD. The files are just .WAV files.

Or you could RIP them into MP3's if you prefer to do that. There are software programs that will convert a WAV > MP3. I beleive they are free to!

All of the newer burning software will auto convert MP3 files on the fly when making an audio cd.

Converting to MP3 and then back to CDA will cause degradation. Nero burning software will allow you to make a compilation of tracks from multiple CD's without a conversion, I assume EZ CD Creator and others will do the same, just read your help files. Just make sure you have plenty of free space on your hard drive, at least a gig or more, because you will be creating temporary images on it.

Sometimes it's better to convert from CDA to MP3 and then to CDA again. When you are mixing MP3's and CDA Tracks the low quality of the MP3's becomes more obvious than usual.
