Serendipity with RPC stub error
Had a problem with IE6 in that links on websites that took you to another website would not work if the link opened another window and left the original window open (for instance, bookmarks on my Yahoo page) (however, links that took you to another part of the same website worked ok). Couldn't fix it so I started using Netscape.
To fix a seemingly unrelated problem- a program would not install because of an 'incompatible version of RPC stub'- I installed a Windows patch to fix the RPC stub error (from here: http://www.activbax.com/support/troubleshooting.asp ) Not only did the patch fix the installation problem but it also fixed the IE6 problem! As a reliability check-- my son's computer was having the same problem with IE6 and this patch fixed his problem also.
