On my system, Adaptec runs flawlessly if I enable "write behind caching for removable disk drives". I have a ton of stuff running and use my computer while I am burning without any problems. If I disable that feature, burns are iffy at 4x.

Adaptec is a ****ty piece of software. I had 4 buffer underuns and 10 successful burns before My brand new HP 9310i crapped out on me.. Nero is a very userfriendly piece of software and would highly suggest it. Also plextor or sony for your cd-rw never go with HP we all have stopped buy HP they are really making a ****ty piece of hardware... Good luck if you are using Adaptec espically with MP3's nero is the way to go..

Adaptec sucks, Easy CD v3.5 works when the CDR is on ATA66, Easy CD 4 does not work when the CDR is on ATA66 (no CDR found).

CD-RW's don't need to be on an ATA66 controller, so why put it there to begin with? Enable the write behind caching before blaming EZ-CD, without it, my system has problems recording, with it, no problem writing and using my computer at the same time. I've put 10x writers on P133 systems and can still write at 10x without making coasters.
