How To Copy Dvd???

Im having trouble copying dvds with my new dvd-r /cd-r

I read the manual and it tells me to copy the DVD folder named VIDEO_TS into my hard drive. But whenever i do that it gives me an error saying CANNOT CREATE OR REPLACE VTS_01_0: FILE SYSTEM ERROR (-2147351799)

i tried this in many different computers, it still doesnt work! Please Help!

Do i need like a special program to copy the files from a dvd to my hard drive??? Are the dvds i am trying to copy COPY PROTECTED?????

Yep, most video DVDs are "copy protected". Like CDs, they're not really protected, means that you can copy it anyway.
As long as you're backing up DVDs that you own it's legal. All you need is a dvd ripping tool like DVD decrypter or smart ripper. Using that tool you can copy the DVD content to hard drive.
