fat32 to ntsf

I just bought a new computer with ntfs and want to know if I can transfer my fat32 files to this computer. Will the new computer be able to read them. If not what do I have to do so it will read them.

Hello and welcome to PC Mech,

in order to use the NTFS you need an operating system like Windows 2000 or XP (not Windows 9x).
Win2K/XP can handle both NTFS and FAT16/32, so you don't need to do anything special, just copy the files, as the file system handling is done by the OS itself, invisible to the user.

There's no problem, just copy the files over.

If you network the machines, it doesn't matter what kind of file system, just copy them over.

If you are placing one drive into another machine, about the only place you might run into trouble is with NT. NT does't see FAT32, but as mentioned above, 2K and XP read it fine.
