Writer seems to write but dosen't work

Hi my cdwriter appears to be cutting discs but when i'm playing them on my cd player the sound warbles & hiss's any ideas?
I have tried other cds in the player they're OK.
Its Yamaha 8x4x24 Scuzzi its not burn proof so I don't do anything on the computer until its finished burning. I have tried Adaptec/CDclone/Nero they all seem to give different results. The writers approx 2 years old and I have never til now had a problem.

yeah tried some different discs (tried and tested ones) - I keep these to one side for testing - I am now going to defrag the drive - I have also started taking off junk software which one try's from time to time.
I have a feeling reinstalling windows (clean) will do the job but I have all kinds of stuff on this drive (software applications) my family also use the machine - but I install and watch they not doing anything which could effect or cause these problems.

I don't want to have to put windows on as it takes a couple of days to build up all the rest of the software.

I use Maxell CD-340 Lens Cleaner this has cleaning brushes comprised of hundreds of ultra-fine synthetic fibers that are impregnated with copper. This enables the brushes to dissipate any electro-static elements while it cleans. It takes all of 20 seconds to use. well worth the $10.00 I paid for it. I use it on my DVD player and my CD player as well as my Burner. It is called THUNDERON Brush System.

I have borrowed my friends IDE writer and it seems to be working - making me now beleive my writer may now be worn out - I hadn't used my own for about 6 months previous to it giving me trouble the last time I used it, it worked fine.
