Background Tasks
Hi,
I use Win98se and when I do a CTRL+ALT+DEL I find I have lots of tasks running in the backround. (See below) Most of these I have no idea what they are and can't tell from their names. Does anybody know how to find out what they are, which ones are important and how to permanantly stop the ones that aren't? Thanks Carl Explorer Zonealarm Rnathchk Steam Cconnect Qshlfed Suitest Iowatch Navapw32 Poproxy Atiptaxx Point32 Instantaccess Loadqm Systray Csinject Nprotect Imgicon Speedkey Qttask |

Start button/Run/type MSCONFIG/click the startup tab and uncheck the ones not needed.
You can find out what most of them are: here and here . HTH

Point32 is the software for Microsoft mice. Explorer is the basic windows interface. Qttask is an annoying resource hogging trait of Quick Time. That is yet another reason I despise Quicktime. You can disable the process somewhere in Quicktime. The exact way has excaped my mind at the moment. This website is very helpful in determining which processes you need: http://www.answersthatwork.com/Taskl...s/tasklist.htm
