Here is a little trick that works in 95/98 but is especially potent in ME.
- Right click on the Start Button, click Open
- Create a folder called Drives or something similar.
- Open My Computer
- Drag your drives and/or partitions into this folder. It will tell you that you can't do this, do you want to create a shortcut instead. YES
- Rename the drives/partitions as they are labeled. In other words, rename your C partition to (C) Windows, etc. This will make sure that they fall in proper order.
- Now when you click on the start button you have easy access to your drives.
- In Windows ME, it will expand those drives, so you can drill down to any progam. You can add a new folder, delete items, etc. You can also put the highlight on a folder and right click and open that folder.
With these tips, you will never have to use My Computer again. You can put your floppy drive here also, but if you highlight it, it will search for a floppy. If one is not in the drive, it will eventually tell you. So you may not want the floppy there.
