Program to tweak XP for GAMING
I pretty much only use my computer for gaming and internet browsing, so I like it to be fast, even though it's a snail. I'm running XP Pro, and I found a neat program called GameXP. It's small, runs without installation, and backs up any default settings that you had (just incase you don't like it)... For me, it optimized my boot time and shut down un-needed services so i have more resources to use for the resource stealing games that i play. So far, i haven't found any problem with it, such as shutting down services that i need, so i'm satisfied with it.

I got it and dled it. If you go to the site it should tell you what it does. basically just turns off services that it assumes you won't need along with some registry tweaks, as far as I can tell. Great program... did something to my autorecognition for CD's so now I have to click the CD in Windows Explorer before it pops up in iTunes. It also disabled Fast User Switching(use it when I am away from comp) and now it don't work either. I did the whole things that was supposed to restore my old settings(since I found what it did pointless) and the features were/are still non-functional. Maybe I screwed it up, but I am to lazy right now to solve the problems so I blame the program

I tried it and deleted it, actually gave me a lower AquaMark3 score! It caused problems during start up, it's nice they have a restore button so you can undo the screw ups that this program gives you. I'd stay away from it. There's enough
viruses floating around, don't need to volunteer for one.

Says it "Requires: Win All" .... what is that? It works on all versions of windows? GameXP for Win3.1 ... Okay.

XPSmoker is reccommended by Tech Tv...
http://www.xp-smoker.com/cgi-bin/cli...smoker0626.exe the trial version lets you use it three times... more than enough to mess with the options... does a great job of optimizing... |
